Special Prayer Request

Please be in special prayer for my friend, Lynetta who is pregnant with twin boys - her due date is December 6. On Friday, October 24th her water broke for baby A. They admitted her to the hospital for close monitoring. This morning some complications arose and they moved her back to labor and delivery. Her doctor said she will have the babies one way or another TODAY! They aren't sure whether the placenta has detached or not - once they know they will do what needs to be done for the safe arrival of James and John. If everything is okay with the placenta they will start her on Pitocin to get labor moving. Please pray! I will update in the comments section as I hear from Lynetta.

Father in Heaven, Creator of all,
I lift up this mom and these babies to you. You are the Great Physician. You are the one who gives wisdom. We speak wisdom to these doctors and ask for you hand of mercy and guidance to lead their hands. Thank you for doctors who have studied the amazing creation of the human body. Thank you that you are not surprised by this situation, and they are not unfamiliar with it. Thank you that these babies are in your hand and created for your purpose. We speak peace over Mom and Dad and ask for you to keep Mom's blood pressure down. Keep the family at bay so as not to create more chaos. I ask that you would put your words of life into the mouths of those praying and speaking into Mom and Dad's lives and hearts. I pray for your peace to override everything else. Close connections with all who would create chaos or disrupt this peace. Simply keep them away.

Father, you made these babies, and we bind them to your purpose. We lose them from the purposes of the enemy and claim they are yours, for your glory. Bless them and these parents with great caregivers and intercessors, not jsut on this day but for their whole lives.

Be glorified in our hearts and lives. You are amazing. We love you, Lord, Amen.

Heavenly Father,

You knit together both of these boys in their mother's womb. For a reason. You have a plan and purpose for these young lives beyond what we can see. May your will be done in this early delivery.

I pray for the safe and healthy delivery of both of these precious lives, James and John. Give the medical staff the wisdom to treat these boys as needed. Strengthen these babies now. Prepare their lungs to enter into the world.

And allow Lynetta to recovery quickly after delivery. Calm her nerves. Bring peace that passes all understanding and comfort to her and those who love her. Sing over her heart and mind during this stressful time. Show her your power and presence. Be glorified. Today. In this family. You are worthy of all our praise! Always..

In Christ's name, Amen.

I just spoke with Lynetta's husband and things are moving along. Lynetta is having contractions every five minutes now without Pitocin. The doctors are having a hard time monitoring the babies. They are giving Lynetta until 2pm before they use Pitocin. Keep praying!

7:45 pm Update - Lynetta's mom called...

Since she was having contractions they didn't start the Pitocin until 5pm. At 7:45 pm Lynetta was having contractions 3-4 minutes apart at varying intensity. They are going to move her from labor and delivery to the OR when she is ready to deliver in case there are complications and she needs an emergency c-section. Please continue praying!

Ruthie - Hi thanks for your prayers for Lynetta and for checking on me. I'm still having strong Braxton Hicks, but I've been trying not to do as much strenuous activity as I did last week. I see my doctor on Friday - so I will update more after that.

Jel - Thanks for stopping by and for your prayers for Lynetta and the boys!

Not too long ago, Lynetta called me with the news...

John was born at 3:22 am and weighed 4 1lbs 13 oz and James was born at 3:30 am weighing in at 5 lbs 8 oz and 19 1/4" long. They didn't give Lynetta a measurement on John yet.

Both boys were delivered by c-section today, Wednesday, October 29 and are in NICU. She said both boys were breathing on their own.

Lynetta is tired, but excited. Please continue praying for Aaron, Lynetta, James and John.

I will update more in the morning - praise God for these two precious boys and their wonderful parents!

Jel and Papa - thanks for the well wishes for Lynetta, her husband and the twins. When she is able to get to the computer I'm going to let her read the prayers and kind words people have left for her here.

Keep praying!

I just hung up with Lynetta...

She is exhausted after two nights no sleep. She only saw the babies briefly after surgery and won't get to see them until tomorrow when she is able to get out of bed. Their daddy has seen them though. James and John are doing fine with their breathing, but they are a little concerned about John because of his weight (4 lbs 13 oz).

Pray for the boys and for Lynetta that she heals quickly and is able to hold her precious boys soon.

Thanks for your prayers Papa - I know Lynetta and family appreciate them. You'd love Lynetta - such a tender spirit and a beautiful voice. She sings like an angel.

I spoke with Lynetta a little bit ago and she is feeling somewhat better, but still hasn't seen James and John yet.

Update on info:

John was born at 3:28 am 3-29-08 and weighed 4 lbs 13 oz and was 18 1/2" long. John was able to drink 1 oz of formula and is doing well.

James was born at 3:30 am and weighed 5 lbs 8 oz and was 19 1/4" long. He was able to ddrink about 1/2 oz of formula. The put a tube in his nose to feed him in case they need to go that route.

Both boys are doing well. As soon as they are able to eat the required amount and maintain their body temperature they should be able to go home.

Keep praying for Lynetta that she heals up from surgery and that she is able to see and cuddle her precious sons today - hopefully very soon. When I talked with her she still hadn't been out of bed, but was hoping that would change shortly.

If you live locally and want to visit Lynetta and the boys - she is open to visitors starting today after lunch. Just give me a call for the hospital info and her phone number there.

Thanks everyone for your continued prayers for my friend!

Those twins are pretty big for how early they were. And what a great answer to prayer that they were able to breath on their own right from the start. That's huge, Praise God! Hopefully everyone will be home soon. May God richly bless them.

Hi Tammy - thanks for stopping by and for your well wishes to Lynetta and family.

Today a friend and I went to see Lynetta, James and John. They are absolutely amazingly perfect. They are tiny but gorgeous! Not a flaw on those two precious boys. I got to hold John the smaller of the two and don't think I've ever held a baby less than my daughter's birth weight of 7 lbs 11 oz. It was wild holding a little one due the same day my baby is due and knowing that the stage of development is pretty much the same as the one I carry. My baby was being feisty and kicked John, but John was kicking a bit too. I told Lynetta that they were already fighting :)

It was great to see Lynetta and her boys!

Wow!! Great news about Lynetta and the boys. God will surely bless this family as so many people are upholding them prayer. It is the same for you and your family, Robin, so many prayers sent your way, so many people who love and care for you. Please take care of yourself, too. Is the house all put back together yet? With me, I use such care when I start to put things away and then the last few items get tossed where ever. . .I guess I loose patience.

Keep us all posted!!
Be Blessed!

Prayer Request for Baby James:

Lynetta and her husband called a little while ago and requested prayer for little James. About about an hour and a half ago the doctor called Lynetta's room to let her know that James is having trouble breathing. They did an x-ray to try to find out what was causing the problem. His right diaphragm is up to high. It is not working properly and there is a hole in his diaphragm. The doctor had to intubate (sp?) him (but a tube in his lungs so a machine can breath for him). Tonight their goal is to make him comfortable. Tomorrow they will talk with a surgeon.

Please pray for James and his parents!

Life Adapted - I have one more super busy day (tomorrow) and then I can start thinking about resting more... The real rest will start after election day.

Everything isn't all picked up yet because I've been so busy with so many other projects, but hopefully I will get the rest done before the baby arrives.

Just found the updates; thanks for keeping us posted. Those are pretty good weights for how early they are! And wow, yeah, that must have been weird to hold a baby due on your baby's due date ...
Sorry to hear about James's diaphragm; I'll keep praying for them. Keep us posted!

7:40 pm Update from Lynetta

James (5 lbs 8 oz) is completely off the ventilator. He still being given oxygen though. The Dr. said she believes the entire incident was caused by air in his tummy which pushed his liver and diaphragm up which caused lung distress. She thinks it was an isolated incident, but will keep an eye on him. Later tonight or tomorrow they will start him back on food slow and easy. The doc thinks he will be fine. He's doing great. Lynetta was able to hold him the last two times she went to NICU to see him. He was calm and peaceful.

Robin said...

Faith - yes their weights are incredible for being about 6 weeks early.

I now have five weeks until my due date...

Robin said...

Lynetta called twice this morning with updates on James - the info changes a bit in the second message, but I will share them both.

8am - 11-2-08

James had a little trouble breathing last night, but his oxygen saturation did not drop. The nurse noticed that one of his nostrils seems to be smaller and she talked to the doctor and they put a humidifier in his isolette and he started breathing fine. John is doing great!

8:20 am - 11-2-08

Because of distress last night the doctor ordered another x-ray on James and discovered that his diaphragm is still high. So they will be talking to surgeons to evaluate what needs to be done and what the issue is because they don't know. In addition, they discovered his right nostril is completely blocked. They are going to do more x-rays to find out what is happening.

Please continue to pray for James, John, and their parents!

11-4-08 Update from Lynetta

Lynetta called this morning with an update on James and John. She said they are both doing great. James is breathing on his own and both boys are regular cribs now (no more isolettes). They are both still being monitored and are using billi blankets to help with some mild jaundice issues. James level went down and John's actually went up a little (nothing to be concerned over at this point). James is now officially off his IV.

Lynetta was discharged from the hospital on Sunday, but is staying in NICU with the boys.

I spoke with Lynetta this morning and she was the bearer of good news!

Both boys are doing quite well and they may get to take them both home TOMORROW! John finished his Sleep Apnea study yesterday and he had NO problems. James' Apnea study is scheduled to be completed by 3pm today. They don't anticipate any problems because his monitor hasn't gone off. If there happens to be a problem then Aaron and Lynetta will be trained on how to use the Apnea monitor and take a baby CPR class before taking him home.

They have one more item to complete before discharge. Tomorrow sometime both boys have to do a one hour study in their car seats to make sure they aren't rolling their heads too far forward (so they don't block their airways). If all goes well with the car seat study and James' Apnea test, then they should be on their way home tomorrow. Only a week and a half in NICU! Praise the Lord!

If you are local and would like to prepare some meals for Aaron and Lynetta, you can make a frozen meal (with reheat instructions on top) and bring it to the church freezer or call Lynetta's cell phone to coordinate a drop off time.

We are also going to help them with diapers. Since babies sizes change so quickly it may be best to take a collection and give them a gift card or coordinate buying diapers in various sizes. Just something to consider.

Thank you all for your continued prayers for this new family!

More Good News!

Lynetta called a while ago and she said that James' Apnea test was fine. They also completed the car seat study and they both did great. Now they just have to wait for the doctor to complete all the paperwork and they should be able to leave for home sometime tomorrow.

Keep praying as they make adjustments and get to know each other.

Wonderful News:

The complete Aaron, Lynetta, John and James arrived at their apartment early this afternoon! John and James are both doing terrific.

Continue to pray for Lynetta as her body heals from surgery. Lynetta's parents will be heading back back to their home out of state tomorrow. Fortunately Aaron will be home (not working) with his family for the next month.

Keep them in your prayers as they make adjustments and figure out their routines. To help them during this time, members and friends of our church can bring prepared meals to the church (freezer) and we will make sure they are delivered to Aaron and Lynetta. You can make one of your family favorites and mark it for Aaron and Lynetta with name of meal and directions for reheating. (Suggestion you may want to put the meal in a container that you don't need back to make things easier on them). If you prefer to deliver the meal yourself, just call Lynetta to coordinate the time. Contact me if you need her phone number.

Thank you all so much for your prayers, love, and willingness to help Aaron and Lynetta!

Aaron and Lynetta took John and James to their first doctor's appointment yesterday and they are both doing terrific! Continue praying for this new family as they adapt and make their routines.

My two kids and I went to see Aaron, Lynetta, John and James today. Lynetta was so kind as to say the kids could hold the babies. My five year old son seemed to grow up before my eyes as he held one of the babies. My daughter (8) just looked so proud. My kids are both so excited about having a new baby in our house.

We delivered food, diapers and a gift today to Aaron and Lynetta that people from our church gave to them.

They are such a sweet family! I'm honored to call them friends.

Lynetta called late this afternoon with an update on James' appointment with the pulmonologist. The doctor looked over all the records then asked Lynetta why they were sent there. He said that his diaphragm isn't that high and his nostril isn't blocked its just small. There is one test that the doctor is going to have done next month just to give the complete clean bill of health, but he is just about positive that he won't find any problems. Lynetta was most excited that James now weighs 6 lbs 8 oz. He has gained a pound since birth and is almost 1 month old.

John and James both have an appointment with their pediatrician on Monday.

Lynetta's parents are coming out for Thanksgiving to visit their grandbabies and to celebrate the holiday with them.

Continue to pray as adjustments are made.
