Vacation Bible School

My church is having VBS this week - the theme is Fruits of the Spirit! Please pray for the children that are attending (and those that have been invited, but not yet come) that they will feel the love of Christ and that they will come to a relationship with Him or that the ground work will be laid for them to come to the Lord. Pray also for the parents of those who may be un-churched that they feel comfort with our church or that they find a church somewhere that will meet the needs of their children and themselves.

Pray also for the children's ministers who traveled a great distance in an RV to share the love of the Lord with the children of our community and church. Pray that the workers from our church will sense God's presence in the work they are doing and that all the glory goes to God.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."

~ Galatians 6:9-10

I'm working the registration table. My Pastor told me that he'd be after me if he saw me running around too much.

I always liked going to VBS as a child...kinda scary and kinda fun.

I always liked it as a kid too, think part of it was my way of being competitive without sports because I could always memorize all the verses and bring my Bible and all that stuff...

Now, I like it more than I did then because its fun to help. Being a camp counselor was always fun for me too especially one summer when I spent the whole summer at camp. Helping the kids learn their Scripture has always been close to my heart.

You're so sweet, Robin. :)

I hope VBS went well tonight. :)

What has been the average turn out so far? I am sure it's been a lot of fun so far for everyone.

VBS is always such a wonderful thing. I loved it as a child - and now I enjoy teaching as an adult. We just had ours 2 wks ago.
Blessings. Remember to stay quiet and restful as you are there.
Hugs.

Linda,

We had more kids on the second night and things ran smoother the second day too. I hope your two youngest kids can make it to VBS. My daughter would love to see them! My son begged to leave for VBS an hour and a half before it started and I went ahead and went early and let them play on the new play ground. Oh have you seen the new playground yet - its pretty cool!

Ruthie,

I'm just doing registration this year. We have a team that came in to lead VBS so we don't have any teacher's just group leaders. I enjoy doing registration. The last few years I've done registration and snacks, but this year just registration and yapping my jar with whatever adults want to hang around during VBS. I've confiscated my Pastor's big comfy office chair for the week, so I can sit in comfort too. Of course I find my way to the snack station frequently - yesterday it was huge strawberries, peaches and cookies. They dipped most of the strawberries in chocolate, but I wanted them plain just like God made them. I just ate strawberries and loved every second of it. I figured the baby must need strawberries. Today I think the baby is going to need some fresh pineapple :)

Ruthie,

I wasn't yapping my jar - I was yapping my jaw :) typos can change everything.

LOL! But it was so fun imagining you yapping your "jar"! ;)

I'm glad it's going well. That's interesting they brought a team in for it this year, they've never done that before, have they?

You are so privileged that you get to sit in Pastor's chair! **smile** You must be one of his favs, lol. :D

Yes, I saw the playground and it's awesome! I think everything about that church is awesome. :)

Hugs & Love,

VBS is a wonderful ministry. I have always loved it, especially as a teacher. This year my church is doing Neighborhood Bible Clubs at two different homes in the city. I'm teaching the Bible story at both and I'm directing/organizing/training the whole program along with the pastor. This is our first year to do this, and I hope and pray it will go well and we will see some children saved.

Linda,

The team is a husband and wife team. They will be at our church districts family camp next month also. I'd really like to go - we shall see... We missed you guys tonight - hint, hint...

QOTW - Sounds like you are involved in something exciting! Praying with you that children come to Jesus...and that the effects ripple for years and years to come!

Ten children prayed and asked Jesus into their hearts tonight!!!

Love this verse. I wonder how many times I've grown weary and missed the harvest.

Praying that God moves mightily in the hearts of children and the volunteers and staff.

Thanks Tiffany - today is the last day and I know my kids wish it would continue...

Your prayers are greatly appreciated!

I just realized that I didn't share the focus of our offering during VBS - its wells for water in Haiti. Heart wrenching that so many people don't have safe drinking water...

Indian Lake Papa said...

How are you doing? Did you survive your week okay?

Robin said...

Yes, I survived thanks for asking. I had fun too. I'd say the most fun was raising money for the wells in Haiti - I plan to post about it sometime soon. Our church and the rest of our district have the Hatian wells as a project for this summer - I hope a lot of money is raised! Such a good cause.

It was also wonderful to hear 10 children praying and asking Jesus into their hearts. Of course they need continued teaching and mentoring - pray for them and their parents.
