22 Weeks and Counting

My friends, Jim and Cheryl, took some pictures of me and the kids on Saturday, July 26th since I've been negligent on taking pictures this pregnancy.

I saw my doctor today (almost 22 weeks along) and she said that everything is going terrific with my pregnancy now. She had me do one blood test today to check for an issue with my liver that may be nothing at all. She said that I'm doing well and that the baby is doing great. My blood pressure was perfect today - of course I went to the appointment alone and didn't have to rush my family who would rather be sleeping off to an early morning appointment they would rather miss. Rick would like to be at every appointment, but he'd like to be beamed there without having to get out of bed. So I will be going to my future appointments alone unless there is some reason I need someone else to drive.

Thank you all for your ongoing prayers for me and the baby!

August 1 Update - I received an email from the lab with my results for the liver function tests and some of them are elevated. Then a while later I got an email from my doctor's office saying that the doctor reviewed my results and needs me to repeat the test at my next appointment and that the orders are in the system already. My guess is that they want to make sure the levels don't increase in the next month. The doctor said she wanted to do a test for Cholestasis of Pregnancy when I mentioned that I was experiencing itching all over my body. I thought that it might be from a combination of sun screen, chlorine and dry skin, but she just wants to be sure.

Don't let yourself get lazy about pictures of this little ones life. I'm the baby and we seem to have not so many pictures of me as Kay. I think parents are too busy or just say "Oh thats cute" and not "Honey quick! Get the camera!" And you do look great!

Thanks Julie! I know I need to make sure not to neglect this baby and to take pictures. I might end up going crazy and taking more pics than I did with the first two...

Good to hear!

I just posted an update to this blog post regarding my liver function tests. Short story - the doc wants to repeat them at my next visit because some are elevated.

Robin said...

Hi Jen - so are you back on-line now or are you just borrowing a computer? Thanks for stoppping by. I checked for an update to your blog earlier and didn't see anything.

Aww, how cute that little belly of yours is. Keep up with the pictures for this child - my friend had to do an autobiography in first grade and her parents gave her pictures of her sister because they had none of her - the funny part of the story is that she didn't know they were her sisters pictures until she was 45 - almost 40 years later. Be so blessed. And, tell Rick he doesn't need to get out of bed for the doctor's appointment, only for early morning diaper changes :)

Thanks Papa!

Life Adapted - you made me smile with the "early morning diaper changes" but the likelihood of that happening are slim to none...

Funny/sad story for you (depends on your perspective) My mother was the oldest child and her mom didn't take pictures of her second daughter as a baby, but wrote on pictures of my mother when the pictures were the likeness of her second daughter. I have seen the pictures to prove it...

Robin, I am glad things are progressing so well. Sounds like you are able to enjoy summer with the kids, and meanwhile baby is snuggled in safely. It will be fun to see pictures of your changing shape along the way!! Have a great weekend, Sister!

Robin said...

Carol - I hope you have a great weekend too! My daughter got to feel the baby move this morning and that was a thrill for her - of course its always a thrill for me too!

Robin,

Thanks for sharing your pregnancy picture. You look darling!

And I'm thankful to hear you and baby are doing well. I'm believing your liver test next month will be back to normal.

Keep taking care of yourself. Relax and enjoy this precious time!

And thanks for the butterfly comment. Always appreciate hearing from you. And I loved your added thoughts and loved knowing your daughter loves butterflies too. Cute VBS song!

God bless you,

Tiffany

Thanks Tiffany! I like butterflies also, but my daughter is absolutely crazy about them. Our zoo has a butterfly habitat that is much like you described and she has had butterflies land on her.

Thanks for your positive thoughts and prayers for the pregnancy and the baby!

Randi,

I had cholestasis in both of my pregnancies - to the EXTREME!!! If you need any support - I have been there! In fact, I would love to have more children but cannot go through the itching again!
Hope you get to enjoy your pregnancy,

Thanks Shelly for your words of support! I haven't been diagnosed with cholestasis yet, but they are checking for it - last months test must have given them reason to want the test repeated this month, but nothing too urgent.

How fun to see a pic of you! So your widget is off by three weeks, eh? I wondered (since I saw that first, and I thought you were a little farther along than that!).

Glad things are going well overall with you and the pregnancy; praying your test results are negative and that things are smooth sailing from here on!

Thanks for checking in on me, btw. I finally updated my blog again. Sorry for the delay! Now that I'm done with grad school, and about to finish my part-time job, I'll have more time for bloggyworld again. :)

Faith - I think my widget is correct its just that this post is old. I'm almost 24 weeks now - I will have to check my widget.

Robin said...

Faith for some reason my email didn't give me your full comment - can't wait to read your post - running over soon...

Robin said...

Hi again Faith - just checked my widget and it was whacked out... Not sure why it did that, but I deleted it and added it in again and everything seems fine now. Thanks for letting me know :)
